On the Grit

Good Friday saw a last minute invitation from my coach Robin to join him and a couple of friends who were going to Stanage Plantation in Peak District.

A very early start had me at Robin’s house at 7am ready for the long journey up the country to the Peak District near Hathersage. This was my first trip to the Gritstone of the Peaks and I had been waiting a long time to go.

It was a lovely, dry day and some brilliant views over the Peaks from the boulders. The highlight of my day was tackling the formidable ‘Deliverance’. Whilst I did not complete it I gave it a good go. Holding on to no more than cracks is difficult at the best of times but with one hand.

We returned about 11.30pm a long day but a good one, definately not the last on the Grit.
